Global Leaders Orange and Blue Engagement

GLOBE connects Blue (current university students) with Orange participants (new students) and teams them up in small and large groups to participate in various activities and events throughout the semester. View My GLOBE Experience.

GLOBE students

The goal of GLOBE is to provide opportunities for domestic and international students to enhance intercultural communication skills, leadership experience, and lifelong friendships, and “help all students develop global awareness and cultural competency," as outlined in the strategic plan of the University of Illinois.

You should participate in GLOBE if you:

  • Are a current student at U of I (domestic or international)

  • Have a sincere interest in sharing one’s culture and building relationships

  • Have an interest in getting involved in campus life

  • Want to develop intercultural communication and leadership skills

GLOBE participants can select one of three "tracks" to focus on:

  • Intercultural Communication

  • Leadership in a Global Context

  • Service & Sustainability

GLOBE is an optional on-campus program, open to all current Illinois students and free to participate. It can be repeated each semester and you can pause at any time. To become a GLOBE member, participants must meet with their cohort throughout the semester, attend IE and other campus programs and events, and complete some reflections and brief activities in a Canvas learning space.
