The Name Project invites students and anyone from the campus community to share the stories behind their names and teach others how to pronounce them. This initiative celebrates our students from around the world who are proud to be part of the U of I family and their individual identity, as well as fostering a sense of belonging on campus.
By engaging with the personal narratives of students, staff and faculty, one can enhance their cultural competency and global perspectives, improve mentorship practices, and build stronger networks and social capital.
Through initiatives like "The Name Project," we can uplift the voices of students, faculty and staff of all walks of life to reflect on their own cultural awareness and share their unique experiences navigating journeys of their identities.
